|
There are over 30 championship Hilton Head golf courses recognized by many top PGA players and course designers to explore on the Island. Greens fees tend to run a little higher than some other South Carolina golf courses, considering the prestige of this golf community, but Hilton Head golf is always worth the price! From moss-draped fairways to views of the Atlantic Ocean, you are sure to find a course to fit your swing. A short drive off of the Island (only 10-15 minutes) will reveal several other great courses too.
Play after 3:00 p.m. and save big! Most Hilton Head golf courses offer substantial discounts late day. At any time of day, of course, you can always expect upfront and professional service at all of these South Carolina golf courses. Bear in mind that carts are required at almost all Hilton Head golf courses, but the price is usually included in the round of golf. From your cart guy to your starter, please consider a fair gratuity.

Hidden Cypress
Hidden Cypress is one of the South Carolina golf courses that is garnering respect and adulation from all who play it. Since opening in 2000, this facility has proven to be a fantastic addition to its sister course, Okatie Creek. Ten-time PGA Tour winner Mark McCumber has designed a challenging, fair test for all players. With its undulating greens and menacing collection areas, players will be forced to use their short-game imagination and foresight to negotiate their way around this challenging course. This Hilton Head golf course has retained its Lowcountry character by lining the rolling fairways with trees. With its well-guarded greens and diverse terrain, Hidden Cypress is destined to be on the “must play” list for those who love Hilton Head golf. Hidden Cypress is located inside the gates of Sun City Hilton Head on Hwy 278. Sun City, Bluffton 954-772-2582 or 800-948-1239.

Golden Bear Golf Club
Since its opening in 1992, the Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run has become a “must play” for Hilton Head golf fans. Owned by ClubCorp, it has rapidly gained a reputation as one of the island’s most challenging and enjoyable tests of golf. This Nicklaus-designed course is well known for its Lowcountry beauty and its wide variety of shotmaking requirements. Setting itself apart from other South Carolina golf courses, Golden Bear clearly demands skill more than strength, finesse more than power, strategy more than heroics. Though not severe, sand and water are an ever-present factor in negotiating its beautiful oak and pine tree corridors. The Golden Bear is the only course on the island to offer a state-of-the-art ParView GPS Electronic Caddy system on every cart. With many technological features, this system aids the golfer with full color features, such as overviews of each hole, pro tips on how to best play the hole, current pin placement, live scoring for groups and more! Shipyard Golf Club
The home of the Hilton Head Seniors International from 1982 to 1984, Shipyard Golf Club was rated as one of the finest layouts on the PGA Senior Tour. This 27-hole layout wanders through tall pines, magnolias and moss-draped oaks. Adding to the beauty and character of the Hilton Head golf course are many lagoons and ponds which must be negotiated if you are to play to your handicap. All three South Carolina golf courses offer four tee positions to accommodate all levels of play, and there are ample risk and reward situations to allow optimal scoring opportunities. Accurate tee shots and well-measured approaches are a must on this championship course. The greens are large and well-bunkered, and their undulating surfaces demand a delicate, yet determined touch. Three day packages available with any combination of Port Royal, Shipyard and Oyster Reef. Shipyard Plantation 843-689-GOLF.
